Rice, flour and sugar: Punjab govt plays vital role in stability of prices

wheat-production LAHORE: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Food, Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt has said that Punjab government has played an important role in the stability of prices of rice, flour and sugar and no increase will be made in the prices of sugarcane and wheat in future as well. Provision of cheaper and quality flour is the top priority of Punjab Chief Minister, he added.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony to mark World Food Day at Flour Mills Association Auditorium arranged by Punjab Food Department, the other day. Secretary Food Irfan Ali, Director Food Dr Usman, DG Food Authority, Chairman Pakistan Flour Mills Association, office-bearers and officers of the Food Department were also present on the occasion.

Mansha Ullah Butt said that World Food Day is observed on October 16 and its purpose is to ensure availability of food to the people. Secretary Food informed that there are 42 lakh tons wheat stocks with the department this year which are enough for the needs of the next year.
