SEOUL:
South Korea is seeking 95,127 tonnes of rice via tenders after the
government's decision to resume US rice imports and sales last week, the
state-run Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp said.
The world's fourth largest grain importer lifted on Friday a suspension on US rice imports and sales made on concerns of possible contamination with arsenic, after a test showed no significant risk for human consumption.
Following Seoul's decision, the state-run agency reissued cancelled tenders seeking 73,633 tonnes of non-glutinous rice, along with 21,494 tonnes more of various types of rice, the agency said late on Monday.
Registration for the tenders will close at 2 p.m. (0500 GMT) on Oct. 22 and electronic bids will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, the agency added.
